A recent addition to the app allows the categorizing of your pins through a default list of categories. You can also create and save your own categories. For instance, “Great Fishing Spots”, “Hidden Bars”, etc. You can geolocate yourself, name where you are, and add it to a category or create your own.

Again, another major improvement to the map app world and another thing Apple totally missed with theirs.
